July 8th, 2010 - Sam Carbaugh

 

Sam Carbaugh, a graduate of the Center for Cartoon Studies ‘09, is a freelance cartoonist and graphic designer living in West Michigan. He creates daily journal comics detailing his recovery from conservative Christianity, battles with depression/trauma, and learning how to be a better partner, father, and friend. He is planning on publishing annual editions of his journal comics under the name These Things Happen. Follow his twitter and instagram accounts to check them out.

Sam is currently working on two graphic novels: Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam (about leaving the cult of American Evangelicalism), and Vanishing Point (coming to terms with the reality of climate change and what everyone needs to do). He also teaches Cartooning classes for kids and is the author of the nonfiction YA book, Comics! Investigate the History and Technology of American Cartooning by Nomad Press.
